Where Servers Dare To Be Different!™

Quake III - Client Side

If you plan on creating your own config file (my.cfg) we must recommend a second config file called autoexec.cfg for this very reason. The commands revealed here to you will automatically execute your custom my.cfg file for Quake III. we are going to reveal our rocket jump script on the basis of a script that was complied and we are not going to help you script it for your machine, sorry. This is the only thing I have in my "my.cfg" file.

So this is what you need to tweak out to get you started in being able to compete competitively with the people who already have this applied on their machines.

This is what is in my.cfg file:
// Rocket Jump Variable configuration By Krillin and Suicide.
//  This line sets up the variable string for the rocket-jump script to be ra
//  Also, you are going to have to feel this script out to perform right on your machine

set rocketjump "set cl_pitchspeed 9999; wait;wait;+lookdown;wait;wait;+moveup;wait;+attack;wait;wait;-moveup;-attack;-lookdown;wait;centerview;wait;set cl_pitchspeed 140"

/// The command will only run with a bound command to the new alias "rocketjump" to a key of your choice. /// i.e. bind r "vstr rocketjump"

This is what is in my autoexec.cfg file: seta sv_fps 100 //sets networking frames per second

seta rconpassword "********************" //sets the rconpassword password

exec my.cfg //executes my.cfg file (so I don’t have to remember every time I play)

These are the settings I have tweaked out on my client machines to match my Server’s setting for optimum performance:

//Quake 3 Arena / Team Arena Configuration (restore.cfg) file.
//This file will set tweaks for CLIENTS after a new install.

com_hunkMegs 512 //sets allocated memory size, default is 56MB (set this within YOUR PC’s range 1/3 to //1/2 of installed RAM)

cl_maxpackets 100 //sets the networking maximum packets (per second I believe)

cg_drawFPS 1 //toggles the draw frames per second (needed to test the next command)

com_maxfps 125 //sets the video tweaking of Frames Per Second set this to 0 to test your video card //in spectator mode and move around and note YOUR FPS limitation

cg_drawTimer 1 //toggles the clock which is used to see how long the game has been running (great  //for timed servers which have a set timelimit)

sv_maxrate 15000 //sets the maximum allowed throughput to send data through your connection per second

//krillin's Custom Bind list. These are the controls I have set up for me. Right hand
//for the mouse, and the left hand for all other options. Also keyed to avoid reaching
//out of my way. (hint hint)

If you would like for me to post anything here please feel free to e-mail me. I will review the data and test it. If what you tell me works as you say it will. I will be more than happy to post it here and give you the credit for it.

Simply the Best

K|W server(s) have been running since 1996 and have set the standards in most areas. As told by our players we never settle for anything less, we only expect "Simply the Best." We've been around long enough to know we raised the bar over the past TWO decades!
